Thank you and good night
Thanks again to all those who've been reading here in what to me were quite humbling numbers. And sympathies to whoever got sore thumbs deleting all those signposting 'signatures' I posted in the Claws posts.
But come on it's time to move on. GOM and its members need to make any decisions and they now have the facts as best I recall them. I repeat the offer in the PM that I sent (as Claws) shortly before I was banned again:
And with that I will cease updating this blog. If I'm asked questions best answered here or there are events that really need a response then maybe I'll post again
So thank you, goodnight and may your dog (or cat) go with you.

"But I want to know if I was wrong. If I was I’ll apologise, not to seek any gain but I believe any wrongs I commit should be apologised for. And if as I believe I wasn’t wrong then to see what can be done to put the issue away"
So thank you, goodnight and may your dog (or cat) go with you.

Random Wednesday thoughts
15 blog reads today already! Thought I'd better post something new then
Tomorrow is the 1st anniversary of my ban from GOM. Don't think I'll repost the sordid details but will see if I can find something amusing
For those who like mildly sick humour I have signed up for the Virtual Pub Celebrity Death Bingo game
What has happened to Old Holborn's blog? No new posts for ages and a broken link to Twitter. For those that Twit this is the real link
update: now 27 reads today, thanks all

Don't read this, read these
Really am quite amazed to have had over 60 blog views
But if you want to read well written material that you may disagree with but will make you think, then you could try these:
Happy reading and grumping
But if you want to read well written material that you may disagree with but will make you think, then you could try these:
- Anna Raccoon's Blog
- Obo the Clown's Blog (not in front of the children)
- Clarkson's weekly articles (you'll need a Times sub eventually)
Happy reading and grumping

Is it smart to post comments in this blog?
Quick answer: no
Long answer: probably not
The admin at GOM will at some point be aware of this blog and they could use rule 7 to ban you saying you libelled them. Even if you didn't.
Rule 7 has history, I wrote it before I became a mod
7. Accounts will be summarily closed, where used to promote or defame other web sites, where moderators or administrators of this forum are libeled or defamed or where those accounts are identifiable as being used by those who have committed such libel or defamation.
It all harks back to the days of the now deceased GC site where several were posting all sorts of nasty content about Steve and Dawn Lewis Allen and then crying foul when their GOM accounts got closed. So I suggested there was a clear rule.
I'm not saying don't post a comment but better safe than sorry

The UKDebate Forum
Since March 2012 I've been posting at UKDebate Seems I've put in 5,000 posts there already and I am far from the most active. Quantity is of course no guarantee of quality but imho there is some seriously good posting there. Less humour.
Current active topics include:
And yes I still get into all sorts of scrapes and tiffs. Here's a post from me earlier today
(Well he's a stupid git)
At the least you mght want to take a peek and bookmark in case you ever find yourself banned from GOM
Current active topics include:
- Gay marriage
- Horsemeat found in supermarket burgers.
- Who are your favourite characters from history, and why?
- Shame on you.
- Why is it that the Asians seem more intelligent?
- Formula E
- Animal law is very silly
- Berlusconi surges ahead in polls weeks before Italian general election
- South American integration
- Sign this petition
- What if we'd got proportional representation?
- Dutch bank nationalised
- Watchdog warns Cameron over misleading public on national debt
And yes I still get into all sorts of scrapes and tiffs. Here's a post from me earlier today
"I see our occasional Saturday correspondent hasn't spend the weekdays at charm
school"

What does a GOM ban look like
This below is what it will look like on your screen (well without all the tabs and stuff that I was browsing)
Hope you never get to see it for real.

For the benefit of Magog
Please someone point Magog to this
As posted by Magog on GOM:
As posted by Magog on GOM:
What did Steve do, burn down a Mod's house? Didn't know Claws was Steve, I quite liked his new persona..
Just out of curiousity and because I am a babe in arms on email protocolly stuff, if you post under a different email address how can they find out it's still you.
Off to hone my spell checker and auto vagina deleter
No I didn't burn down a mod's house. I edited a mods post because they'd screwed up the formatting thereby misquoting another poster. So I told him and he PMd me back "Don't worry about it Steve". But he was actually planning to shaft me using that as a reason why I had to be removed as a poster. Bit dodgy eh.
The real issue was I refused to give special favours to one of their chums and objected to Kim being banned largely because she had pointed out issues in said Chum's posts

Email addresses: you can never open up a second account with an email address associated with a banned account. I beleive once opened you can then change it back to your preferred one but no guarantees. What you have to be careful of is IP addresses. If your ISP provider gives you a fixed IP address you will always be identifiable as banned poster. Fortunately several ISPs give you a changed IP address nearly everytime you reboot the modem AND let you have up to 10 email addresses. The hardest thing is thinking up names for them. Claws was named after my cat.
So how did they find out. I told them. I said who I was and what was my version of the story do you want to challenge it. Seems they couldn't so they banned me - again

I'm not sure I want to know what an "auto vagina deleter" looks like. Sounds like a very bad thing

Other Steve and his GOM ban
The Other Steve Blog
(glad someone found it)
Not sure where this will go.
I’ve no delusions about having the writing skills of even the average
blogger. This blog is really just to wish all the regular posters at Grumpier Old Men (GOM) all the best, answer
some of the questions posed about me on GOM, explain who
Claws was and let others benefit from my experience of the nasty side of the
GOM forum. Be very careful who you trust and who of the management you disagree with.
Who was Claws
Claws was a ghost GOM
account for me (Other Steve) to say thanks to a few people and give an opportunity to those
who banned me to rebut my version of the story. I made a few badly disguised posts while Claws
lasted longer than planned as someone was trying to be an intermediary –
failed. As soon as I said it was me, Claws
was banned by those that had been given their chance to comment on the dirty story. Seems they can’t rebut a single word
So 'Bye
I guess I won’t be allowed back on GOM any time soon and anyway I’m an established regular on another very good site. More and more serious posts there but less humour - can't have it all
